The current edition of The Time Jumpers includes 10 members, each a master of his instrument. They are Vince Gill (vocals, electric and acoustic guitars), “Ranger Doug” Green (vocals, acoustic rhythm guitar), Paul Franklin (steel guitar), Brad Albin (upright bass), Larry Franklin (fiddle), Andy Reiss (electric guitar), Kenny Sears (vocals, fiddle), Joe Spivey (fiddle, vocals) Jeff Taylor (accordion, piano) and Billy Thomas (drums, vocals).

“It was the church crowd where the vibe was wide open. It was anything goes. In the community outside the church, gay men were called sissies. But inside the church, a lot of the music was created by gay men. In the church you were almost proud to be part of the gay elite of musicians.”

EDWARDS Ronald Mr. Ronald (Ronnie) Edwards of Rocky Mount passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017. His funeral will be 2 . at First Baptist Church on Saturday, December 16, 2017. She is survived by her loving spouse of 55 years, John Henry Slayton: three children, Lori A. Baum of Murphysboro, IL, Robert Scott Slayton and wife Pam of Beckemeyer, IL and Mary E. Johnson and husband Adrian of Belleville, IL; six grandchildren, Joshua Baum, Heather Baum, Kaitlyn O’Quinn and husband John, Cole Johnson and wife Veronica, Jack Johnson and Emma Johnson;  four great grandchildren, MyKayla Baum, Macie Baum, Tenley Baum and Michelena O’Quinn.

Soon after turning Otis Redding's “Respect” into a timeless feminist anthem, Aretha composed her own demand for female and ethnic empowerment in yet another deathless classic vividly brought to life by Aretha herself in the 1980 film  The Blues Brothers . 

We lost a music legend this year, one that was very close to you. If you go out to bars and clubs, people are still playing Whitney Houston and celebrating her. Now that it's been almost eight months since her passing, do you have any thoughts on her life and contributions?
There is a special in November that Jennifer Hudson and other singers will be a part of. It's nice to know she isn't forgotten and people are still paying tribute to her. Hopefully that will be a wake up call as well for some younger artists who saw what she went through and what that can lead to... You know, there will be something good about it.
